PLANTSBROOK SCHOOL CAREERS EVNT GIVES STUDENTS A GLIMPSE INTO WORKING LIFE

A Plantsbrook School Careers event gave students an insight into life after education – thankS to the support of businesses, trainers, colleges and universities.

Pupils in years 9 to 13 visited the fair on Tuesday, March 8, getting the chance to talk to 31 different organisations including the RAF, Police and Army, before they worked on personal careers presentations about what they had learned.

Students Luke Edwards and Samuel Bannister with Corporals Tracey Hodgetts and Alex Tsirstikos, of the RAF.

Careers Advisor Sarah Dullea said: “The careers fair was a great success, and the students really engaged with the opportunity to personally talk to all kinds of employers and training providers, as well as universities.

“We also had some of our sixth formers doing feedback questionnaires at the same time, to make sure that we have included the kind of exhibitors that our students want, and so we can improve the fair next year.

Plantsbrook School careers event was first in years

“This was the first full-size career’s fair we’ve organised since 2019, and we were blown away by the response from the business community. It was great to have so many exhibitors.”

Headteacher Jason Farr said: “I’d like to thank all of the exhibitors who gave up their time to take part in the career’s fair and provide such valuable information for our students.”
