Perryfields Academy gala production: Talented youngsters from an Oldbury School took to the stage to perform their first public show since the pandemic.
Students from Perryfields Academy, in Oldacre Road, lit up the stage at Stourbridge Town Hall on Wednesday, February 8, for their gala show entitled ‘For One Night Only’.
The school has a tradition of staging annual gala shows each year, bringing together the talents of young dancers, actors and musicians to entertain parents and loved ones.
But this year’s was extra special – because it was the first time since COVID struck that a live audience got to see the children perform.
Head of Performing Arts Sam Jones said: “The students have been working so hard to put this Perryfields Academy gala production together, rehearsing at lunchtimes and after school, to get it just right for the big night.
“A total of 120 pupils from all the year groups were involved in this show, with rehearsals starting in January. There was so much excitement as they pulled it all together.
Perryfields Academy gala production shows off students’ talents
“The show has brilliant dance pieces, a fantastic, energetic band, musicians and a drama piece too – it really shows off the students’ talents.
“The gala night gives the kids a chance to experience performing on a professional stage, and an opportunity for parents and the community to see just how brilliant they are.
“It was wonderful to be back in a proper venue and invite the parents to come in and see what the children have come up with.”
