Perryfields Academy Aladdin musical: Talented students took audiences on a magical musical carpet ride when they staged a much-loved musical for parents, friends and primary school children.
Around 50 students from across the year groups from the Oldbury School – which is part of the Broadleaf Partnership Trust – conjured up a memorable production of Disney favourite Aladdin, complete with an all-powerful genie and show-stopping songs.
Youngsters from primary schools near the Oldacre Road academy were treated to three matinees of the show, while parents and friends packed into the school hall for three evening shows.
The role of Aladdin was shared by Charlie Green and Danielle Robinson, while Bella Beaumont played Princess Jasmine.
Perryfields Academy Aladdin musical was first planned for 2020
Head of Performing Arts Sam Jones said: “The students have been working really hard to put this show together, rehearsing at lunchtimes and after school, to get it just right.

“Work began on it back in October and the children have shown real dedication, with students not only performing but also working behind the scenes too.
“We actually planned to stage Aladdin in 2020, but then the pandemic came along, and it didn’t happen – so it’s great to finally see the curtain go up on the show. It’s been three years in the making!
“It’s important that parents and members of the community get to enjoy the results of all the hard work, and of course the children from the Primaries really enjoy coming into the school to see the show too.”
