ATLP student awards 2023 – More than 100 remarkable students from 19 schools were recognised for their outstanding achievements at an inspirational awards ceremony on Tuesday, July 4th at Drayton Manor.
The event was held by the respected Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP) and featured prize-winners from 19 primary and secondary schools in Coleshill, Coventry, Erdington, Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth.
The students represented Arthur Terry, Coleshill, John Willmott, Nether Stowe, Stockland Green and West Coventry secondaries and Brookvale, Coton Green, Curdworth, Greysbrooke, Hill West, Mere Green, Osborne, Scotch Orchard, Slade, St Chad’s, St Michael’s, Two Gates and William MacGregor primaries.
All the children and young people were nominated by their schools and received trophies and certificates in recognition of their outstanding contribution to school and community life.
And, as an extra treat, the award-winning student and their families also got to enjoy the rides at Drayton Manor.

But first, they shared their success with fellow ATLP pupils, headteachers, staff, governors, trustees and parents.

Now a long-running tradition at ATLP, the annual awards have proven so successful that they have been split into two different sessions across the day, each introduced by ATLP CEO Richard Gill CBE, who praised the collective achievements of the students.
Speaking after the event, he said: “It was fantastic to get everyone together to celebrate these awards, which each year shine a light on the amazing students we have in our growing ATLP family.
“Just to put it into perspective, we have around 10,000 students at our 19 schools, and there were 116 students who picked up awards. So, every one of them should be immensely proud to have been put forward by their teachers. They really have shown themselves to be special, and we are very, very proud of them.”
The awards were also skilfully compered by ATLP students – first by Temmy and Silver from Osborne Primary School, in Erdington, and then by Harrison and Eliza of St Michael’s Primary School in Lichfield.
They introduced the seven award categories: special endeavour, community, extra-curricular, contribution to school life, charity fundraiser and creativity.
Mr Gill thanked governors, trustees, and schools for giving children opportunities to shine.
He said: “Children are at the heart of everything we do at ATLP. This annual event recognises and celebrates that, as well as bringing us all together in a way that reminds us of our shared values – which ultimately aim to ensure our students reach their potential, each and every day.
“Our headteachers and staff do a wonderful job to achieve that goal, and the students who took the stage at Drayton Manor represent the very best of the students they work so hard to inspire.
In a message congratulating award winners before the event, John Vickers, chair of ATLP’s trust board, said: “The achievements we are celebrating cover a very wide range of activities.
“Some are for outstanding work, some are for generosity in looking after others, some are for intellectual or practical achievements, some are for following your conscience and doing what’s right, some are for showing determination to succeed against difficult barriers.
“Whatever the reason for your award, it is a mark not just of what you have already achieved, but also of what more you can achieve, not only for yourself but for others.”
